President Biden falls on stage at Air Force graduation

Newsman: President Joe Biden fell on stage at Air Force graduation forcing him to come down on his hands and knees.  Biden (80) was helped to his feet by Air Force officials and Secret Service personnel. It appeared to trip on a black sandbag that was on the stage.

The president did not appear to sustain any injuries.

During the event ,when the president Biden just had  handed out the last diploma after standing on stage for the Air Force Academy’s commencement ceremony for hours and  turned to his left and began to bound off stage appeared a sandbag  force him to come down on his hands and knees not noticing the sandbag below. Biden has fallen before. The most notable moment was in March 2021 when he stumbled more than once while boarding Air Force One for a flight to Atlanta.

Joe Biden was elected in 2020.  Before his inauguration, Biden fractured his foot when he slipped and twisted his ankle while playing with one of his dogs, forcing him to wear a walking boot for several weeks.

Last summer, Biden fell when he tried to get off his bike at the end of a ride at Cape Henlopen State Park near his beach home in Delaware, but said he wasn’t hurt.

White House communications director Ben LaBolt, said in a tweett ,“He’s fine. There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” LaBolt wrote in response to a video of the fall.

President Biden joked about the incident as he returned Thursday evening to the White House. “I got sandbagged!” Biden, holding up his arms, shouted to reporters with a smile before taking a slight skip when asked if he’s feeling good. Biden walked with no visible limp.

Deputy White House press secretary Andrew Bates called that “laughably untrue” and pointed to Biden’s travel schedule. “President Biden has traveled more in 2023 than President Obama had to the equivalent time in 2011; including to a Ukrainian warzone as he kept restoring our stature in the world,” Bates said. “You saw his qualified leadership when he, in real-time and on national television, baited congressional Republicans into committing not to cut Medicare during the State of the Union. And you saw it when he shook the hands of 921 Air Force cadets today before briefly tripping over a sandbag and then getting right back up.”

Former President Donald Trump also responded when asked about Biden.

“He actually fell down?” Former President Donald Trump said Thursday during a campaign event in Iowa when asked about Biden. “Well I hope he wasn’t hurt.”

Trump went on to reference the criticism he received in 2020 for walking gingerly down a ramp during the graduation ceremony of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Trump, now 76, also appeared to have trouble bringing a glass of water to his mouth during his speech.

“You gotta be careful about that because you don’t want that, even if you have to tip toe down a ramp,” Trump said. “I suffered for that. They never covered my speech.”
