Newsman: New York City Mayor Mamdani and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have been trading blows for months, with New York’s mayor going as far as trying to find an avenue to arrest the prime minister for alleged war crimes brought by the International Criminal Court.
“Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal. … I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be tried and arrested for his crimes,” Mamdani said in July. “My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law. … It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant.”
On Tuesday, just one day after meeting with President Donald Trump at Gracie Mansion, a reporter read Netanyahu’s comments to Mamdani during a press conference.
He denied the claims of inciting riots against Jewish New Yorkers, while also taking a jab back at the Prime Minister.
“As the Prime Minister, [Netanyahu] is the architect of a horrific genocide against Palestinians,” Mamdani said. “Just a few days ago, his military killed an 11-year-old boy in what is deemed to be a safe zone in Gaza.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he’s coming to the United Nations General Assembly to “expose the truth” about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,” Netanyahu said in a video message.
“I’m coming to the UN, I’m going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I’m going to tell the truth about you.”
Al Jazeera, a Qatari news outlet covering the war, reported that the boy was shot dead by Israeli forces in the al-Mawasi safe zone. According to the outlet, over 1,300 people have died and more than 4,800 have been injured since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was signed in 2025.
At the 2025 U.N. General Assembly, there was a mass walkout in the assembly hall when Netanyahu began to speak.
This year, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon said, “I expect that there will be something like another show.”
But the ambassador said Netanyahu is experienced, “and I’m sure he will deliver his speech despite those attempts.”
