Newsman: Three people were dead and 15 people were injured in two states in US over the weekend. A shooting at a nightclub in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, left two people dead and sent 10 to the hospital Sunday morning, police said.
One person was killed and five were injured in a shooting early Sunday in Indianapolis, at what Police believe was a birthday celebration.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said, around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the Team One Event Center nightclub on the northwest side of the city.
When officers arrived on scene, authorities said they found one adult male inside the building who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Five additional victims, including four men and one woman, had what officials believe to be non-life threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were taken to area hospitals.
Police believe the birthday party was taking place when a fight broke out and shots were eventually fired both inside and outside the building.
No one has been detained in regards to this incident, police said.
Cedar Rapids Police in Iowa said, A shooting at a nightclub in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, left two people dead and sent 10 to the hospital Sunday morning, police said. The gunmen likely escaped as the crowd rushed out of the nightclub. Police were searching for suspects Sunday afternoon and no arrests had been reported.
A Cedar Rapids Police Chief Wayne Jerman said investigators believe two men fired more than a dozen shots inside the Taboo Nightclub and Lounge just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He said officers who were just outside the club because of an earlier incident rushed inside and found the victims just as 100 to 150 people streamed out.
The scene around the nightclub was secured and police said “there is no threat to public safety,” police said in a statement. No information on the potential suspects was released, and police confirmed an investigation was ongoing.
Those injured were receiving medical attention at local hospitals, police said. Anyone “present at the time of the shooting or with knowledge of the incident” should contact investigators, the police statement said.
