Newsman: The US Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. endorsed former President Donald Trump Friday afternoon. Kennedy Jr. said later on Sunday his endorsement of Donald Trump is not out of revenge on Democrats and he plans to continue campaigning for the former president.
“I’m going to be campaigning actively,” Kennedy said in an interview with Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday.” “I think President Trump will make a series of announcements with other Democrats who are joining his campaign and I want to make America healthy again and so does President Trump.” Kennedy has argued that Democrats effectively blocked him from seeking the nomination this year, also said he only plans to withdraw his name from the ballot in 10 swing states and will stay on about 30 state ballots where his candidacy is not likely to affect the outcome.
Kennedy said he still disagrees with Trump on some issues; he had talked to Trump after his assassination attempt and then had two extensive meetings with him after that.
“[Trump] invited me to form a unity government and we agreed to be able to continue to criticize each other on issues on which we don’t agree,” Kennedy said, adding Trump committed to helping him on issues like ending the war in Ukraine and ending censorship. “But these issues are so important for unifying our country; we need in this country to reach a point where we love our children more than we hate each other.”
“In anything in my life, I don’t act out of anger or revenge or resentment. It’s a bad motivation, like swallowing poison hoping someone else will die,” Kennedy said. “So I don’t do it. I am very pragmatic and practical.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at an event in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday announced he is suspending his campaign for president and instead supporting former President Donald Trump. He encouraged voters in red or blue states to vote for him but said he would remove himself from the ballot in battleground states where he could act as a “spoiler.”
“I want everyone to know that I am not terminating my campaign,” he said. “I am simply suspending it and not ending it.” he said that by remaining on the ballot, he could technically be eligible to assume the presidency in 2025 if no candidate wins a majority of the Electoral College, a virtual impossibility because it would require him to win Electoral College votes.
Kennedy then after joined Trump on stage at the former president’s Glendale, Arizona, rally.
Former president Trump said he would appoint and create an independent commission to investigate assassination attempts and release all remaining documents about the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Robert F. Kennedy explained Robert F. Kennedy what drove him to enter the race, to leave the Democratic Party and now to throw his support to President Trump. Just before taking the stage his campaign filed a court document in Pennsylvania that said Kennedy would endorse Trump.
Donald Trump holds a rally in Glendale, in Arizona later on Friday.
“We just had a very nice endorsement from RFK Jr., Bobby,” Trump said in Las Vegas. “That’s big. He’s a great guy, respected by everybody.”
The Democratic National Committee responded to Kennedy’s announcement with a statement of “good riddance.”
“The more voters learned about RFK Jr. the less they liked him,” said DNC senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill. “Donald Trump isn’t earning an endorsement that’s going to help build support; he’s inheriting the baggage of a failed fringe candidate.”
Robert F Kennedy Jr in a teary-eyed Phoenix speech said, he was basing his choice around his years long passion for one key issue: chronic illness in children. He reasoned, he would align with the one remaining candidate who expressed interest in taking up the cause. Kennedy gave his remarks in a ballroom at a downtown hotel in Phoenix Arizona.
“If President Trump is elected and honors his word, the vast burden of chronic disease that now demoralizes and bankrupts the country will disappear,” Kennedy said.
“This is a spiritual journey for me. I reached my decision through deep prayer, through hardnosed logic, and I asked myself, what choices must I make to maximize my chance to save America’s children and restore national health?” he continued.
Robert F Kennedy an environmental lawyer and a leading anti-vaccine advocate, opened his remarks Friday blasting the Democratic Party for “abandon[ing] democracy,” lambasting his “naysayers” for not believing his campaign could be successful, and accusing both the media and Democrats of a conspiracy that kept him from being competitive. Then, Kennedy made it official.
“Many months ago I promised the American people I would withdraw from the race if I became a spoiler. … In my heart, I no longer believe I have a realistic path to electoral victory,” he said.
“I felt that if I refused this opportunity, I would not be able to look myself in the mirror knowing that I could have saved lives of countless children and reversed this country’s chronic disease epidemic” he said.
Kennedy began his White House run in April 2023 as a Democrat to challenge President Joe Biden, but months later dropped the bid and the party. He named Nicole Shanahan, a Silicon Valley lawyer, to be his running mate.
