Newsman: Colombian President Gustavo Petro said in a televised statement on Monday that he will be “waiting” in Colombia, in an apparent response to President Donald Trump’s comments about him.
“I’ll be waiting here if you want. I do not accept invasions. I do not accept missiles. I do not accept killings. I accept intelligence,” Petro said.
Petro’s comments were televised on Blu Radio, a news station that covers Colombian news and world news.
Petro invited U.S. officials to come and meet about intelligence matters, but said he would not accept anything else.
“I accept intelligence. Come here to talk with intelligence, and we will receive you,” Petro said.
In a statement posted on X early Monday morning, Petro warned he was willing to take up arms if he needed to.
“Although I have not been a soldier, I know about war and clandestine operations. I swore not to touch another weapon since the 1989 peace agreement, but for the sake of the Homeland, I will take up arms again, even though I don’t want to,” Petro said in the statement.
