Donald Trump won a second term as president

Newsman:  Republican Donald Trump won a second term as president of the United States of America after wins in key battleground states. Donald Trump and Vance spoke before most news outlets had declared him the winner, but the night was, at that point, clearly going in his direction. Trump thanked his supporters for the “extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president.”

Donald Trump took the stage in his home state of Florida at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and claimed victory after winning three critical swing states – North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

He surpassed the 270 electoral votes he needed to earn a second term at 5:34 a.m.

 Former President Donald Trump was  projected to be the next president of the United States by most of the news media  after winning the key battle ground states Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on Nov. 6. Aroun 6 a.m. and the once-and-future president leads in Arizona, Michigan and Nevada as well. At this point, the most likely final outcome appears to be a 312-226 Trump victory. While it will take some time to count all the ballots, Trump looks likely to win the national popular vote for president, too. Late Wednesday morning, Trump had garnered 71.7 million votes, leading Democrat Harris, who had 66.8 million.The last Republican to win a popular vote in the United States was George W. Bush during his reelection campaign in 2004.

Bush defeated Democratic Sen. John Kerry that year after accruing 50.7% of the popular vote and 286 electoral votes, according to the American Presidency Project.

Trump ended up with at least 279 electoral votes after clinching wins in the swing states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin. Harris has won at least 219 votes. Already having been impeached twice and 34 felony convictions after leaving the white house including two assassination attempts against Trump, The race was marked by literal history.

“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” Trump said in his victory speech.

“I’ll be fighting for you, and with every breath in my body,” Trump told supporters who had gathered at Palm Beach County Convention Center.

“I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.” 

Vice President Kamala Harris chose not to address supporters in Washington, D.C., on election night after Trump won Georgia and North Carolina, the first two battlegrounds to fall in the race for the White House.

Cedric Richmond, a co-chair of Harris’ campaign, told the crowd at Howard University that she would not speak publicly until later Wednesday.

“We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called,” Richmond said shortly before 1 a.m. ET. “You will hear from her tomorrow.”

Trump, during his nearly 25-minute address said  “We’re going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders, we’re going to fix everything about our country and we’ve made history for a reason tonight, and the reason is going to be just that.”

Trump said, “it’s a political victory that our country has never seen before, nothing like this.” “And every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family and your future, every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body, I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America, that’s what we have to have,”Trump added.

“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate, Donald Trump said.

“We’re gonna make it the best it’s ever been. We can do that.” He said.

And I’m asking every citizen all across our land to join me in this noble and righteous endeavor. That’s what it is. It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It’s time to unite, and we’re gonna try. We’re gonna try. We have to try. And it’s gonna happen. Success will bring us together. Success is going to bring us together and we are going to start by all putting America first.

“We have to put our country first for at least a period of time. We have to fix it. Because together we can truly make America great again for all Americans. So I want to just tell you what a great honor this is. I want to thank you. I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer and stronger than it has ever been before.

“I think we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America,” Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, Trump’s running mate, said early Wednesday at the campaign’s victory party in West Palm Beach, Florida.
