Newsman: Lara Trump, president-elect Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law is stepping down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee. She announced her decision to step down on Sunday, at 10:18 p.m. ET on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In announcing her resignation on X, Lara Trump, said “the job I came to do is now complete,” touting the RNC’s fundraising records, election integrity efforts and voter turnout.
She’s expressed openness to replacing Rubio, the president-elect’s pick to be secretary of State, in the Senate, telling The Associated Press it’s a role she “would seriously consider.”
“If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like,” she told the AP in an article published Sunday. “And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”
Lara Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, announced she will step down as the Republican National Committee’s co-chair.
“The job I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting,” she wrote in a post on X Sunday night, calling the position “the honor of my life.”
Trump, who is married to the president-elect’s third child, Eric Trump, took the position as co-chair in March 2024 after Donald Trump threw his support behind her taking the position.
“Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for,” Trump’s father-in-law said in a statement in February. “She has told me she wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!”
Lara Trump, in announcing her decision to step down on Sunday night, touted her work on fundraising, election integrity and encouraging millions of Americans and infrequent voters to turn up during early voting.
