Newsman: The House voted today to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time in a swift and bipartisan condemnation of the President’s role inciting last week’s riot at the US Capitol. US House of representative impeached President Donald Trump this afternoon by 232 to 197 vote with 4 members not voting. This is a bipartisan impeachment as ten republican representatives voted the Article of impeachment. This is the first time ever that a US president is impeached twice in the house. House speaker Nancy Pelosi has officially certified the the article of impeachment. She will deliver the article of impeachment to the senate for trial. The article of Impeachment will be send to the senate for trial to finally impeach President Donald Trump by the congress. It is not Clear yet whether the Senate will resume before the 19th or not for the senate impeachment trial. But what is clear, the democrats’ will convict Donald Trump to stop him for further political ambitions.
“We know that the President of the United States incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion against our common country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on the House floor ahead of the vote. “He must go. He is a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love.”
Among Ten Republicans, including the House’s No. 3 Republican, Liz Cheney of Wyoming, joined with Democrats to impeach Trump for “incitement of insurrection.”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell indicated earlier that he believes that impeaching President Donald Trump will make it easier to get rid of the President and Trumpism from the Republican Party, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.“If Mitch is a yes, he’s done,” according to Senate GOP source who asked CNN to be anonymous. But It is not clear whether this vote won’t force Trump from office as the Senate trial isn’t expected before 19th of january2021 unless Majority Leader Mitch McConnell want to resume senate session for the trial.
Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer said that there will be a senate trial to convict Donald Trump to bar him to hold any public office after Joe Biden sworn in for the office and he becomes the majority leader in newly elected senate.
The speed of the vote and the Republican support underscores the fury that lawmakers feel about Trump’s role inciting the rioters who overtook the Capitol, who were fueled by Trump’s months of false rhetoric about the election being stolen from him. Cheney’s statement was cited by impeachment supporters and detractors alike Wednesday after she charged that Trump “summoned this mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack.” “There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution,” Cheney said.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday that Trump “bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters,” urging the President to accept his share of responsibility and “quell the brewing unrest.” McCarthy, however, argued the House should create a bipartisan commission instead of impeachment.
“I believe impeaching the President in such a short timeframe would be a mistake,” McCarthy said. “No investigations have been completed. No hearings have been held.”
In a note to his GOP colleagues Wednesday afternoon, McConnell wrote, “I have not made a final decision on how I will vote and I intend to listen to the legal arguments when they are presented to the Senate.”
On Tuesday, house passed resolution urged Pence to “convene and mobilize” the Cabinet to “declare what is obvious to a horrified nation” – that Trump is unable to serve as president. But Pence will not invoke the 25th Amendment, he told Pelosi in a Tuesday letter. The vice president praised House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top congressional leaders for their leadership, but told them invoking the 25th Amendment would not be “in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution.
